Medical yoga teacher or yoga therapist
Leading groups safely and competently as a medical yoga teacher
You can complete the training in 3 sessions of 5 days each or as a 12-day intensive course.
In this comprehensive yoga teacher training program, you’ll learn how to guide groups through yoga classes with presence, clarity, and professional expertise. You will be equipped to lead classes focused on prevention—such as for musculoskeletal issues like back pain or stress-related symptoms—and to make individual adjustments for different target groups.
After completing the training, you will be able to teach yoga classes professionally at different levels - from beginner to intermediate and, depending on your focus, also advanced classes.
In addition to the precise teaching of asanas (postures), you will also focus on integrating pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation into your classes. You will learn how to use these elements in a targeted and coherent way to promote body awareness, concentration and inner peace in your participants.
Another essential part of the training is didactic and methodological training: you will learn how to structure lessons sensibly, respond to different needs and create a harmonious atmosphere in your classes. Anatomical principles, particularly in relation to the spine, breathing and joints, form an important basis for your teaching skills.
In addition, you will be introduced to topics such as voice guidance, mindful communication, yoga philosophy and ethical aspects of teaching - so that you can provide effective support not only physically, but also on a mental and emotional level.
If you also want to work more one-to-one with people in prevention, therapy and rehabilitation, the yoga therapy training is also useful for you afterwards (or before). Even if you plan to have the so-called ZPP approval at some point, you will have to complete the yoga therapy training in addition to the yoga teacher training in order to achieve a total of 500 hours. In these cases, you complete both trainings. It doesn't matter which of the two trainings you start with. If you would like more information about the yoga therapy training, please click here.
Medical yoga teacher & yoga therapist - the ideal combination for your professional future
With the combination of training as a medical yoga teacher and yoga therapist, you will acquire a comprehensive qualification at the highest level. You will complete a total of 500 training hours, which will optimally prepare you both professionally and methodically for your work in prevention, therapy and rehabilitation.
These qualifications enable you to register with the Central Prevention Agency (ZPP) – an important step towards offering certified prevention courses as part of health promotion. This opens up a wide range of career opportunities: in yoga studios, rehabilitation centers, clinics, health facilities, or in your own practice.
You will learn how to lead groups professionally and safely - for example in courses on stress management, back health or general health promotion. At the same time, you will be trained to work specifically and individually with patients in individual therapy, incorporating sound diagnostic methods, therapeutic conversation and the targeted use of yoga techniques.
